Carlos Galindo is a hard working man, trying to earn a living and his son, buy working as a gardner in Los Angeles, California. Carlos is a decent man, and from Mexico. He is also a single parent trying to raise, Luis, his fourteen-year-old son. Carlos is really worried about his son, he is frightened that he will drift into local gang culture. Carlos ends up buying a truck for his work. The money was loaned to him from his sister. However one of his shifty new employees steals the truck from him. Carlos and Luis work together and are able to track the thief down. However, the truck has already been sold. The father and son end up bonding as they reclaim the vehicle from the pound. However, Carlos attracts the police's attention, making his future in America unsure when it is discovered that Carlos is an illegal immigrant.
