Watch Dog Days

Dog Days follows the interactions of six stories over the course of a summer weekend in suburban Vienna. There is the teacher being pimped by an abusive creep, an obsessive hitchhiker with poor luck and an insatiable need to insult her benefactors, and a divorced couple still unable to move their daughter's death. There is also a private detective in a great deal of trouble, an old man in search of some sexual excitement and a woman trying to get her own back from a sadistic boyfriend.

Directed by Ulrich Seidl (Animal Love), Dog Days (or Hundstage in the original German) stars a mixture of professional and amateur actors. Filmed in the naturalistic style characteristic of Seidl's directing, this film is best known for the unstimulated sex scenes it contains. This film is notable for being Seidl's first attempt at a fictional story as all his previous films were documentaries. Running at 121 minutes in the American version and 127 minutes in the UK version, this film premiered at the 2001 Venice Film Festival where it won the Silver Lion Jury's Special Award. It went on to win six other awards including the FIPRESCI Prize at the Bratislava International Film Festival. It also saw three other nominations.

Rated a hard R this film includes a lengthy scene where explicit oral sex is shown. During a depiction of an orgy various people are shown coupling. Frontal and rear nudity for both genders occurs - this includes depiction of penii. A rape happens off-screen and the victim is later shown with facial bruises. The sexual humiliation of a female character and later her boyfriend is shown. Another female character is shown as being frequently abused by her significant other - this includes hitting, pulling of hair as well as verbal offense. There is a significant amount of profanity and some mild drug usage.
